Our Speakers: Judith Swales, COO Velocity and Innovation, Fonterra Judith has been with Fonterra since 2013 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer Velocity and Innovation in June 2016. She’s responsible for driving efficiency across the Co-operative, bringing increased commercial focus to Fonterra’s research, development and technology, and taking a strategic view on developing game changing business models. Prior to this appointment, Judith was the Managing Director of Fonterra Oceania, leading the successful turnaround of the Australian business and overseeing Fonterra Brands New Zealand. Carly Robinson, Director VelocityNXT, Fonterra Carly has been part of the dairy industry for over 20 years, joining the New Zealand Dairy Board’s Marketing Graduate Programme in 1998. Working closely with our business and many stakeholders, Carly’s current role is enabling Fonterra’s drive to a more innovative and sustainable Co-operative. She oversees a team that is responsible for supporting the organisation to convert big, bold and highly innovative ideas into value, with a primary focus on initiatives that are complex, highly cross-functional or require new technology, tools or capabilities. Judith and Carly will speak about Fonterra – today and in the future – and the strategic role of data and analytics in continuing to build an Innovative Co-op. Kat Greenbrook, Founder, Rogue Penguin Rogue Penguin is a data visualisation agency in Wellington. She has a background in analytical modelling and graphic design. Her focus now is around helping businesses tell their data stories. Not all data visualisations should be created equally. Kat will introduce some basic principles of graphic design that you can then apply to enhance your data visualisation storytelling. To prove it’s easily done when you know how, she’ll step through a data viz makeover. Stefan Schliebs, Lead Data Scientist at Quantiful and Co-founder of the Data Science Academy Stefan holds a PhD degree in computer science and worked for many years in both academic and commercial environments. He is a co-organizer of the R User Meetup Group Auckland. Stefan is passionate about empowering data professionals to help them delivering high quality data outputs, follow best practice and use modern data science tools in their daily work. He will be discussing building Web applications in R :- ‘R Shiny’ is a web framework to rapidly develop data focused web applications and dashboards. It promises to enable data scientists to develop interactive data products on their own without requiring in-depth knowledge of HTML and Javascript. Stefan has been working with Shiny for the last 3 years and would like to share his experience with the wider analytics community. He will be covering motivation of using R for data focused web applications, development, examples, data back-ends, deployment and security in an enterprise context.
