We invite all analytics professionals in the region to join us for an event to meet each other and learn about some interesting analytics work underway today. All analytics professionals are welcome, free of charge, as we are keen to understand the opportunities for more events like this in the future. Our speakers will share their experience of analytics, data science, and machine learning across different industries. Afternoon tea at the beginning and and nibbles afterward will be provided, thanks to the University of Canterbury. Our speakers will include: Kevin Ross Dr Kevin Ross is the General Manager of Precision Driven Health, an award-winning $38m partnership applying data science and analytics to enable precision health. He is also Director of Research at Orion Health, a global healthcare platform managing data for over 110 million patients worldwide. Kevin is the founder and chair of the New Zealand Analytics Forum, a group of over 2000 professionals committed to learning and sharing best practice analytics. He was previously Chief Scientist of Optimisation at Fonterra, Associate Professor of Technology and Information Management at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Principal Consultant for PA Consulting Group. Kevin holds a PhD from Stanford University in Management Science and Engineering, and a BSc(Hons) from the University of Canterbury in Mathematics. James Williams Dr James Williams is a Director at Isogonal, a company building real world applications of AI technology. He is also a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Canterbury, and Co-Director of the Data Science programme at the university. He established the network science consulting service at the Yale Institute for Network Science, and is passionate about developing intelligent systems for optimization and control. James holds a PhD from Yale University in Applied Mathematics, a BSc(Hons) from the University of Canterbury in Mathematics, and was a recipient of the Fulbright Science and Innovation Graduate Student Award. The talks will be followed by a discussion of the future of analytics events in Christchurch We look forward to your ideas, and identifying volunteers to be involved in planning future events.
